It’s been a while!
So yes, it has definitely been too long since I’ve written a
post…welcome to the life of a qualified teacher who loves to sleep! I honestly
tip my metaphorical hat to anyone who has any other commitments that still
manages to do this job – kids and the like. I just about have the energy for
one outside of work club per week and take care of my cat!
That being said, time for updates on the past year.
First of all, moving to a larger school was a huge culture
shock – the new school is three times bigger than the previous school I worked
at with well over 2000 pupils. While I had already completed one of my teaching
practices at the new school, I had completely forgotten just how big it was in
the three years I’d been away.
The fact that the last time I’d been in this school was when
I was a little baby ITT also made it a little bit harder for me when I moved
across. All of the feelings of being a trainee came flooding back to me and I felt
like that young, nervous student all over again. It definitely took a little
bit of time to be comfortable around the school, although thanks to my prior
three years of experience and stubborn personality, it didn’t take too long.
After a fantastic first year at the new school, the cherry on
the top was getting an outstanding in my final observation of the year. Towards
the end of my third year of teaching, I was so disenchanted and so unhappy that
to get to this point now is such a massive personal achievement. I’ll have to
think about whether or not I want to write about this.
For now, here’s hoping that I manage to find some more time
over the summer to get some writing done and give some more updates on life as
a tea-cher. Time to stick the kettle on and enjoy the summer.
Until next time
